Situational Analysis: Freedom Financial Marketing

Summary: Analyzed hypothetical business Freedom Financial Marketing and shared SWOT analysis.

SWOT Analysis

This week brought an exciting endeavor, which was the situational analysis of a family pet project. The business is called Freedom Financial Marketing and it’s a passion project my wife and I have worked on for several months. I took the approaching of looking at this exercise through the lens of a hypothetical/proposed business, rather than an established existing business. In turn, this forced me to dive deeper and exercise honesty in the assessment of both the business and the market.

Below, you will find the Situational and SWOT analysis of Freedom Financial. Please, enjoy and I look forward to your questions and comments!

    Hello, Zane!

Thank you for your presentation and SWOT analysis on Freedom Financial Marketing. I think the name of you and your wife’s potential business is clever as it plays on a few different strengths. There is the obvious, which is providing services allowing clients to achieve financial freedom, but there is also a bit of a patriotic ring to it. Who doesn’t love freedom in the land of the free? Using the master’s program to develop Freedom Financial Marketing fully could be beneficial as many students would take the opportunity to do just that. You get to fulfill course deliverables and set up a business with access to the amazing faculty and other like-minded students who can advise you along the way. By the end of the degree program, it’s possible to have a fully viable business plan ready for execution.

You hit on a lot of great points. Mainly, folks are sick of large corporations and corporate structures. Word of mouth is very powerful, and I acquire many customers simply by speaking to them or having referrals from other folks. It’s a smart strategy. I’m with you regarding minimizing risk by not dipping too far into your own personal savings, but I feel that you’re already on the right track. You and your wife have your own personal brands to integrate into Freedom Financial, plus an established future client list of folks who want to use your services.

    Kindly,

    Shawn

      Shawn,

Thank you for viewing and for posting! The business is a bit of a pet project we have tinkered with, though admittedly there is much work to do in order to generate a viable business. That said, I must say that the more I work through these exercises, the more comfortable I become with the idea that this venture could be successful. Thus, much as you said, I am planning to continue vetting this business throughout the program to see how things shake out. Your points are valid, as we have seen the transition in the financial industry away from the corporate megastructures, as folks pursue flexibility and customization. Economies of scale can make for very profitable ventures, but so too can the custom shop that delivers exceptional customer experience. In our instance, we have multiple commitments from prospective customers based on the growth of our personal brands and if we can transition those into the business, the hope is that we might quickly accelerate. Thanks again for your kind words and feedback!

      Cheers,

    Zane,

You did a great job on this assignment. You and your wife have a good business development. I like that both of you have agreed not to tap your finances. With a strained marketing budget, word of mouth can be a great tool. Social media is also a great tool. I noticed that you said that you lacked an office space, however, there are WeWork and Regus offices that you can rent by the hour to meet clients. I have utilized these spaces in the past. There are a lot of competitors, however, some people are tired of the business practices of larger corporations and they are willing to consider smaller businesses for services due to their loyalty their customers. I wish you the best of luck!

      Tonya,
Thanks so much! Transparently, this is a project we have worked on very sporadically and without much depth. So, I have found this course and process very rewarding as it’s forced me to take action and put the proper diligence on the business. In that regard, its been very rewarding to begin putting some of the business pieces together. The challenging part for me is that I am always full of ideas and I tend to struggle with exactly what ideas to pursue! This course and program continues to foster more cohesion in that area and I am really looking forward to continuing to learn more!

      Cheers,
      Zane Breeding
